Zahnen Truck Service & Equipment Inc. started in 1993, representing Luverne Fire Apparatus and Quality Manufacturing.
The legacy of Spartan Motors Inc. which produced its first Custom Fire Chassis in 1975 grows from here. In 1997 Spartan Motors Inc. purchased Luverne Fire Apparatus, which produced its first fire truck in 1912 & Quality Manufacturing, which had started in the refurbishment business on ARFF units and produced its first fire truck in 1975. In 2003 Spartan Motors Inc combined Luverne Fire Apparatus & Quality Manufacturing and started "Doing Business As" Crimson Fire.
After researching was completed for globally recognized names in the fire apparatus industry, it was Spartan Motors that was the second most recognized name in the industry. In 2012 Crimson Fire is now recognized and “Doing Business As” Spartan ERV. (Emergency Response Vehicles). Spartan Motors Inc. is a Michigan “Single Source Manufacturer” with its headquarters located in Charlotte, MI; with fire apparatus Manufacturing Facilities located in:
